Something Blue

All of us know the saying that has become a tradition with most brides on their wedding day,

"Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and a Sixpence in her Shoe."

This phrase dates back to ancient times and symbolizes good luck for the bride.

I'd like to zone in on the "Something Blue" for today's post...

Did you know:
Blue has long been connected to weddings. In ancient Rome brides wore blue to symbolize love, modesty and fidelity. You will see the Virgin Mary dressed in blue in most paintings, symbolizing purity. And until the late 19th century blue was the popular color for wedding gowns, not white.

From a touch of blue in your bouquet to blue soles on your wedding shoes, brides have become very creative in choosing their 'Something Blue' for their wedding day over the years. Check out some great ideas below!

A subtle touch of blue with a simple and dainty hair pin

Your something blue can be found on an accessory such as your clutch

Pinning a delicate blue ribbon or charm on part of your wedding day attire is a simple and common way to withhold the tradition

Many brides incorporate blue into their bouquet whether it is by adding blue rosary beads wrapped around the stem,  infusing  subtle blue flowers(s) into the bouquet or adorning the the wrapped stem with blue crystal pins or bling.

A Something Blue handkerchief is classic
Hiding your something blue underneath your wedding attire is very common, whether it's your garter or your under garments
One of my favs is incorporating your something blue on the sole of your shoes…whether it  is painting the entire bottom of your soles (which can easily be done by a local shoemaker) to having your bridal party and close loved ones sign the bottoms in blue or blinging out the initials of you and your grooms name or the words "I Do" in blue crystals--you can get as creative as possible in a subtle way. It makes for a great photo opp too!

Another one of my favorites!
Having something meaningful, such as a quote or you and your grooms initials and/or date of your nuptials, embroidered into the inside of your gown in blue thread is a beautiful way to display your something blue that will forever withstand the test of time.
Something Blue incorporated into your wedding day jewelry
For the bride who wants to boast her blue under that big puffy dress!
Lastly but not least, try incorporating a little something blue into your headpiece accessories.

The options are endless when it come to choosing your Something Blue, but at the end of the day there is no right or wrong choice…it's what best suits your taste and style and what has the most meaning dear to your heart.

Sincerely,
FG

Escort Your Guests in Style!

Below, I've included some really unique ways to transform the traditional escort table many of us know of into something really fun for guests. This is one of the first thing guests see upon their arrival at a wedding reception, so why not turn it into something creative that is sure to kick off the night on a great note! This is guaranteed to keep your guests intrigued and anxious to see more...

Champagne glasses ready for pouring with your escort cards included...so cute!
Another fabulous option for an escort piece to double as a favor that is sure to be used by your guests, name engraved wine glasses...classic!
Certain themes call for making the most out of your surroundings, such as a destination/beach wedding utilizing the sand is a great display option, (it's not costly and there is no shortage of it!)
Again, making the most out of your surroundings, pieces of wood work great for an outdoor country or vintage theme.
The Seating Charts have become very popular and have been taking the place of many traditional escort card tables, making it easier for guests to view and saves a lot of trees also!

Hanging Crystal Escort Cards...so elegant.
Glass Window Pane Seating chart with a vintage flare
One of the coolest thing I came across....A framed portrait of the beautiful couple that doubles as an escort card board, so that guests can take their names right off of the framed display. (See below)

Unique printing...change up the look of the traditional escort card number
Switch up the look of each escort card!
Chocolate Designed Escort Cards...tastes good and looks good--GENIUS! And can also double as a favor :) Made by Chocolates and Wishes
Key Tags give this display a romantic and vintage inspired feel.
Super chic framed display with magnets holding each escort in place (love the frame).
If you love the traditional escort card table look but want to amp it up a bit, try adding floral and candlelight to make it more romantic and intimate. Adding some hanging escort cards on tree branches looks great as well, (The higher or more spread out the branches the nicer they fall).
Framed seating charts in different colors, shapes and sizes are a great look. The fun part is you can choose frames that set the tone for the theme of your wedding reception, whether its more of a rustic, vintage look or a modern elegant feel.
Candlelight is very intimate and makes for a great way to escort your guests. It can also double as a way to add candlelight to each table at the reception, setting a more romantic vibe around your centerpiece. You can never have enough candlelight!
Whether it's cute and quirky or more refined, using mini wine or champagne bottles instead, this escort display is a great keepsake for guests. You can personalize the labels however you want with a photo of the bride and groom, the guests name and table number and/or the couples name and wedding date (great for favors!)

Yours Truly,

FG

Black, White & Lace All Over..

I am a huge fan of the beauty and simplicity of black and white decor. The color black, which used to be frowned upon at weddings and only associated with mourning, has become synonymous with elegance and is now looked at in a different light (no pun intended).  Black has become a very popular accent color at today's weddings (and looks stunning I might add.) Mix that with your traditional lace and it is perfection! Check out the inspirations below!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I wanted to dedicate today's post to all of the lovers out there celebrating this special day. Although many see today as being "over-rated" we are all guilty of LOVE, if you have ever loved someone and have been loved by someone, mother, father, son, daughter, sister, brother, pet, etc. then you are a big part of this day just as much as any couple out there.

Today is a great day to tell your loved ones both family and friends how much you love them. It's not always about a fancy night out, flowers or candy, but more of just letting someone know you appreciate all that they do.Whether you are sharing today with your lover or your friends, be sure to enjoy the company of the people that matter most.

And with that said, thank you to all of my readers, family, friends, loved ones for your support in all that I do, it means the world.

xoxo
